Description

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and suitable habitat areas • Conduct field surveys to identify aquatic resources, including vernal pool complexes • Prepare brief memoranda documenting survey results • Conduct pre-construction surveys for listed plant and wildlife species and nesting birds • Lead on-site Worker Environmental Awareness Program training for construction contractors • Monitor construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements and permits • Coordinate with AECOM leadership, clients, construction contractors, and agency personnel • Produce daily monitoring logs summarizing work activities and compliance • Participate in AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting practice in California • Travel between Sacramento and Bakersfield and complete short-term assignments, potentially including overnight travel

🎯 Exigences

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, or a related field • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and biological surveys • Valid U.S. Driver License required • Ability to travel independently • U.S. citizenship required • Preferred: 4 years of relevant experience • Preferred experience surveying for special-status species, including blunt-nosed leopard lizard, giant garter snake, California tiger salamander, and western spadefoot • Preferred 10(a)1(A) permit for listed wildlife • Knowledge of common and special-status wildlife species in California’s Central Valley and Central Coast regions • Experience conducting construction monitoring, leading WEAPs, working with construction contractors, and implementing avoidance and minimization measures • Experience identifying vernal pools and surveying for vernal pool species • California rare plant identification skills • Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps and Fulcrum • Ability to work safely in hot and cold environments and potentially long days • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
