Description

• Report to the Vice President of Engineering as a key member of the R&D team • Operate in an AI-first environment using tools such as Claude Code to translate product ideas into production-ready systems • Help lead the technical vision for backend systems • Implement features, fix bugs, and improve Java Spring microservices • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices within the backend engineering team • Design scalable systems • Validate and own AI-assisted code • Drive technical excellence across the team • Collaborate through pairing sessions, code reviews, and weekly Friday Dev Chats • Mentor and lead junior engineers in software engineering methodology, design, and best practices • Work with the product team and feature owners to take requirements through execution and deployment • Support continuous delivery with multiple deploys per day

🎯 Exigences

• Must be based in the United States • Must be willing to work Eastern (EST) time zone hours, regardless of location • Extensive experience with Java 17+; migration toward Java 21 • Experience with Spring Boot 3.x, JPA/Hibernate 6, and SQL relational databases • Comfortable writing unit and integration tests and maintaining strong code coverage • Experience designing event-driven microservices • Experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD), hexagonal (ports & adapters) architecture, and CQRS • In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including indices, connection pools, ACID transactions, and schema-performance implications • Experience with NoSQL databases and understanding when to prefer them over relational databases • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex or similar • Familiarity with agentic/CLI-based AI workflows and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations • Experience applying AI to code review, test generation, and documentation • Ability to critically evaluate and refactor AI-generated code for production readiness • Ability to judge when to use AI versus manual implementation • BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Experience in Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and relational databases • Demonstrated project coordination/management skills • Ability to sit for long periods of time • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
