📋 Description

• Build Alpaca's proprietary services for users' advisory services, including block trading, portfolio management, and IRA • Design and architect the platform in a small, early-stage team • Write substantial production code • Make critical decisions to deliver high-quality, high-performance customer experiences • Work across frontend, backend, databases, distributed systems, CPU-level hardware, concurrency design, high-availability architecture, and object-oriented data modeling

🎯 Requirements

• Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems (OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, quant trading) • System design skills with object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction • Strong software engineering experience; Senior experience is preferred • Coding skills in both low- and high-level languages around C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python • Low-latency and high-throughput optimization • Experience with messaging queues and message brokers • Analytical, data-oriented mindset and skills • Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low-latency systems, and concurrency control • Experience with the development and implementation of Order Management Systems (OMS) and/or highly loaded financial transactional systems • FIX protocol knowledge is a nice-to-have • Experience with observability, tracing, continuous profiling, and benchmarking is a nice-to-have
