📋 Description

• Alt is unlocking the value of alternative assets, starting with the trading-card market and building real-time pricing at scale • Own Alt's core card pricing model powering trades, loans, and underwriting decisions • Optimize pricing model to reduce infrastructure costs while improving accuracy for high-value cards • Iterate on underwriting model to maximize cash advance disbursements while maintaining target risk thresholds and default rates • Lead full ML lifecycle: training, feature generation, deployment, and monitoring • Collaborate with Expert Pricers to become a domain expert and inform model improvements • Design and execute experiments and backtesting to validate new predictive features • Own the model's AWS infrastructure and write code for the pricing API to ensure scalable, low-latency serving

🎯 Requirements

• Passionate about trading cards or a similar alternative asset class • Hands-on individual contributor who thrives in a zero-to-one startup environment • Desire to own a business-critical system and build a team • Pragmatic problem-solver who favors practical solutions • Highly curious with strong desire to learn • 10+ years of total engineering experience with at least 4-5 years of direct machine learning experience • Expertise in Python and libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, and pandas • Strong foundation in MLOps and infrastructure; experience deploying models on AWS using ECS and Docker • Experience in data orchestration using Airflow for model training and batch jobs • Demonstrated ability to improve model accuracy through feature generation and experimentation • Experience with Random Forest, ensemble methods, or pricing/underwriting models in marketplace environments
