• Engage with national and regional Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within assigned geography • Conduct fair balanced clinical and medical information exchange on a peer-to-peer basis with KOLs via scientific exchange • Collect and report field-based clinical/medical insights back that impact future strategy • Serve as primary Amicus external medical affairs representative for key stakeholders, providing deep disease state and product information and facilitating collaborations • Support new and ongoing clinical trial execution as needed • Support internal departmental training meetings • Build and maintain technical and clinical expertise across therapeutic areas • Attend scientific meetings, conduct literature searches, gather medical insights and communicate learnings internally • Respond to medical inquiries with available information following SOPs • Facilitate educational grant request process and IIS inquiries/proposals aligned with scientific interest • Partner with Patient and Professional Advocacy to maintain advocacy group partnerships • Attend scientific conferences to support medical booth and engage in HCP meetings • Lead or engage in advisory boards and regional scientific/medical discussions • Fulfill administrative, procedural, and legal requirements in alignment with SOPs • Mentor newly hired MSLs and other team members • Drive innovative initiatives and ideas based on strategic imperatives as a MSL leader
• MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP with relevant clinical, scientific and research experience, or Master’s degree (i.e., nursing/genetic counseling) with significant experience (10+ years) with a record of significant accomplishment • Knowledge of FDA regulations, PhRMA code, OIG, and AACME as well as other international industry rules and guidelines along with medical and clinical terminology knowledge • Strong business acumen, has working knowledge of multi-disciplinary functions involved in the drug development process • Experience in rare disease is preferred • MSL experience of 3-5 years preferred • In depth knowledge of Medical Affairs organizations, including related operating processes, policies, procedures, and regulations • Excellent verbal/written communication and listening skills • Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining relationships; high emotional intelligence • Proven ability to collaborate and make connections with both internal and external stakeholders • Proven self-starter that is solution focused when presented with challenges • Ability to manage demanding schedules, adapt and be flexible with evolving and/or competing priorities
