📋 Description

• Report directly to the Co-Founder and CTO • Build and maintain a long-term vision and six-month roadmap for Platform & Infrastructure • Grow the Platform & Infrastructure team by hiring ICs and managers and building a headcount plan • Determine whether specialized roles such as Database Administrator are needed • Build and maintain an excellent relationship with Product Engineering • Enable Product Engineering to move quickly without compromising performance or reliability • Assess and improve monitoring and incident-management processes • Improve uptime measurement and coordination with Support during incidents • Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate pricing for AWS, ClickHouse, Datadog, and Braintrust • Manage other leaders and hire a manager underneath the role within the first six months • Potentially manage developer experience and developer tools and build a dedicated DevEx team • Help preserve Ashby’s engineering culture and high-ownership operating model • Ship product, feature, and infrastructure changes during the first three months • Conduct regular 30-day, 60-day, 90-day, and six-month reviews with the CTO

🎯 Requirements

• Important leadership role through a high-growth period, as an IC Lead or Engineering Leader • Experience making high-quality decisions under pressure and balancing short-term fixes with long-term investments • Experience hiring and building hiring processes, including designing interviews and interview loops and leading hiring strategy • Track record of excellent collaboration with Product Engineering, Product, Sales, or Support • Knowledge of platform and infrastructure technologies, networking, and hardware • Knowledge of Kubernetes, traffic flow between Load Balancers and Pods, and how underlying hardware affects cloud abstractions • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Comfortable managing a team spanning the Americas West Coast to Europe • Must live in the PST-GMT time zone • Experience managing managers • Coding experience and commitment to staying current with technology • Ability to thrive with senior, autonomous engineers • Willingness to participate in a 5-round interview process including a technical screen in the company codebase
