📋 Description

• As part of the Decommissioning and Defense Business Unit, we work on French nuclear projects focused on mechanics, project management and decommissioning. • For the ITER project, we are strengthening our teams and are looking for our future Structural Calculations Engineer to work on-site. • Assystem is the preferred partner of several nuclear operators on the following scopes: support to mechanical design offices for design integration and overall synthesis as part of industrialization. • Support to product engineering in the following specialties: mechanical design, control of dimensional quality, structural mechanical analysis, electromagnetic calculation, thermomechanical analysis, HVAC, nuclear safety, business development for mechanical equipment, owner’s engineering support, detailed studies, industrialization studies and monitoring of fabrication and commissioning. • You will report to the head of the mechanical design office. Your main responsibilities will be to: perform structural mechanical calculations to support and validate design assumptions for equipment (rotating machines, steel structures, anchors, etc.). • Compile and prepare calculation reports. • Validate assumptions and results with development managers. • Review mechanical calculation reports with respect to industry best practices and applicable design codes (RCC‑M, ASME, Eurocodes, etc.). • You will also be expected to: participate in mechanical design which may include supervising one or more drafters. • Propose and analyze technical options, which may involve collaborative work with external partners. • Ensure the integration of standards. • Contribute to the growth of the calculations office by developing tools (VBA, Python, etc.). • Act as an advisor on the interpretation and application of standards within a multidisciplinary team. • Serve as the interface with designers for analysis and understanding of product geometry.

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree from a general engineering school (or equivalent), with a specialization in mechanical engineering. • You have at least 3 to 5 years of experience, ideally gained in the energy industry, naval sector, special-purpose machinery or more generally on large, complex mechanical systems. • Proficiency in at least one mainstream analysis software (Ansys, Abaqus, PipeStress) is mandatory; experience with Ansys is a plus. • You are autonomous, rigorous and technically curious. • You are dynamic, versatile and independent, recognized for your customer service mindset and your ability to work in a network with experts; strong technical curiosity is essential. • Your interpersonal skills and analytical thinking will set you apart.
