• This is a remote position. • We are looking for professional Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) / Video Remote Interpreters (VRI) fluent in Tetum and English to facilitate real-time communication between clients and Limited English Proficient speakers across various industries, with a primary focus on healthcare and medical interpretation. • Daily responsibilities include rendering accurate and complete interpretation, maintaining professional conduct, and ensuring clear communication between parties. • Provide accurate, complete, and unbiased interpretation between Tetum and English. • Apply interpreter’s code of conduct and maintain professionalism at all times. • Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology. • Take notes efficiently during calls to ensure accuracy. • Support effective communication across industries while ensuring confidentiality. • Participate in internal training and pursue professional certifications. • Collaborate with team leaders and maintain service quality standards.
• Native fluency in Tetum, fluent in English. • Minimum of 1 year of professional OPI or VRI experience with a recognized interpretation provider. • Strong knowledge of medical terminology; legal terminology is a plus. • International healthcare interpretation certifications (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA) are an advantage. • High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity. • High level of communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills. • Internet Dedicated high-speed, private, and secure internet connection. • Minimum download speed: 10 Mbps. • Minimum upload speed: 3 Mbps. • Wired internet connection (Ethernet). • Chromebook or Mac devices are not allowed. • Noise-canceling, wired USB headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth or 3.5mm adapters). • Computer must operate in “High Performance” mode, plugged into power (not on battery).
