📋 Description

• Design and build Java automation frameworks covering Integration, Contract, E2E, and Performance/Load testing • Define effective approaches for Unit and Component testing • Build, maintain, and scale internal testing tools, libraries, and test data management utilities • Engineer and manage fast, reliable, CI-native pipelines • Implement parallelised quality gates and automated feedback loops in deployment infrastructure • Analyse system architecture and cloud-native topologies to improve system testability and quality • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting tooling and standards • Convert incident postmortem findings into automated safeguards and process improvements • Implement and track quality metrics to diagnose bottlenecks and improve framework performance and reliability • Drive the organisation-wide quality strategy and testing ecosystem • Mentor software engineers and coach development teams on quality-first design

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, hands-on proficiency in Java; ability to discuss JVM internals, design patterns, and idiomatic Java at a senior engineering level • Background as a software engineer or backend developer, with test automation architecture as part of or the focus of the engineering remit • Proven experience designing, building, and scaling multi-layered automation frameworks from the ground up, including Integration, Contract, E2E, and Performance testing • Heavy hands-on experience building, optimising, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with fast, parallelised execution and automated gates • Deep understanding of distributed system design, microservices, and cloud native environments, including logging, observability, and testability • Exceptional technical debugging skills across complex, distributed systems • Ability to write robust automated regressions addressing production vulnerabilities • Ability to define technical standards, document framework architectures clearly, and collaborate with engineering teams • Experience implementing, capturing, and visualising DORA metrics automatically within deployment pipelines (nice to have) • Familiarity with feature flagging frameworks and progressive delivery infrastructure (nice to have) • Experience in fintech, payments, or other high-throughput environments where transactional integrity, security, and strict reliability are paramount (nice to have)
