📋 Description

• Accurately and timely assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes • Assign payment group classifications and abstract data for reimbursement and statistical reporting • Review and interpret inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, diagnostics, emergency medicine and other patient records • Perform coding and abstracting to support billing, data quality, statistics, severity of illness and risk of mortality reporting • Apply diagnostic reports, laboratory values, doctors’ orders and medication forms in accordance with Official Coding Guidelines • Abstract pertinent data, determine and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes, and enter information into the computerized coding and abstracting system • Use the coding and abstracting system for communication, account holds, management questions and queries • Provide coded and abstracted information for final coding and billing within productivity expectations • Review and update patient demographic and abstracted data received via HL7

🎯 Requirements

• Acute Care and Inpatient Procedure Coding experience required • ICD-10-PCS Inpatient Procedure Coding experience in an acute care facility required • Knowledge of ICD-10-PCS Inpatient Procedure Coding and CPT Coding Guidelines and Principles • College Diploma in Medical Coding or one year coding experience in a healthcare environment required • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology • Working knowledge of pathophysiology and basic pharmacology • Knowledge of Official Inpatient and Outpatient Coding Guidelines • Associate or Bachelor Science degree in Health Information Technology preferred
