📋 Description

• Lead the engineering organization responsible for orchestrating payment flows and the network connecting Coinbase to the global financial system • Build, scale, and lead a multi-team engineering organization across Payment Platform • Manage engineering managers and senior individual contributors • Coach the organization on technical excellence and career development • Define the technical vision and architectural strategy for Payment Platform infrastructure • Drive decisions on bank and card network connectivity, stablecoin settlement, reconciliation, and failover • Partner with Product, Finance, Compliance, and Engineering leadership to shape and execute the multi-quarter roadmap • Translate regulatory constraints and partner-integration complexity into iterative, shippable milestones • Own engineering quality and operational excellence, including SLA accountability, incident response, and engineering standards • Drive talent strategy and develop the next generation of engineering leaders

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering • 5+ years of engineering management experience • 2+ years managing managers and scaling multi-team engineering organizations • Proven track record delivering and operating distributed payment systems, financial infrastructure, or high-volume transactional platforms at scale • Deep understanding of payment rails such as ACH, cards, SEPA, or wire transfers • Strong technical judgment and ability to guide architecture, reliability, and engineering quality for critical financial services • Hands-on operational leadership through incidents and service health management • Experience setting strategy and delivering complex work through multiple teams in regulated environments • Experience partnering with Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations • Ability to balance speed, safety, and regulatory requirements • Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight • Must be based in the USA
