• Lead ESP’s policy and research team in partnership with the Vice President of Policy and Research • Manage department strategy, priorities, budget, and program manager development • Oversee workflows for research and policy products and events • Coach, mentor, and develop program managers • Serve on the Senior Team and connect campaigns, communications, and development work • Develop short- and long-term policy and research strategy • Propose, plan, and execute federal and state policy projects • Oversee commissioned research with external partners • Produce and synthesize research, policy briefs, and factsheets • Support writing and preparation for events and media opportunities • Support fundraising through funder writing and meetings • Ensure methodological quality, analytical rigor, and strong arguments • Lead initiatives and partnerships to build support for economic policy ideas • Provide technical assistance to policymakers and partner groups • Host workshops, convenings, and meetings with partners
• Strong track record leading projects and developing colleagues, with readiness for formal management of a diverse team • Policy expertise in economic security • Familiarity with regulation, competition, social insurance, taxes, and wages • Careful editing and persuasive writing skills for policy and public audiences • Proven leadership and ability to move people on issues • Extensive experience liaising with policy experts, legislative staff, and government officials on economic policy • Familiarity with quantitative methods and statistical programming languages such as R, Stata, or Python • Knowledge of current economic trends and debates • Familiarity with Washington, DC economic policy, think tank, and advocacy communities • Experience managing departmental or project budgets • Experience analyzing research, legislation, and white papers and translating implications • Comfort with public speaking and policy presentations • Collaborative, strategic, solutions-oriented approach • Proactive, rigorous, outcome-focused work style
