• Accept assignments from customers for investigation of losses or claims and pursue investigations according to assignment needs • Determine the origin and cause of losses or claims • Identify potential third-party responsibility for subrogation • Maintain reporting commitments to clients according to standard procedures • Promote and market EFI services in the insurance industry and assigned territory • Liaise between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel • Investigate losses or claims involving illegal, fraudulent, or subrogation aspects • Identify and interview witnesses and involved persons • Gather information and evidence concerning motive, opportunity, and incident facts • Inspect public records, including land deeds, mortgages, liens, suits, judgments, and marriage and divorce records • Maintain current knowledge of privacy laws and public-record availability • Perform other assigned duties and travel as required
• Minimum Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification required • IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification strongly preferred • Must obtain IAAI-CFI certification within 6 months of employment • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Three years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Good oral and written communication • PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products • Strong organizational and time management skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Good analytical and interpretive skills • Strong investigative skills • Attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to work independently or in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reach/work overhead • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day
