📋 Description

• Support project-based works, portfolios of projects, and ad-hoc repairs • Commission and integrate protection, control, and SCADA systems across overhead lines, underground cables, substations, civil works, and work programmes • Undertake commissioning activities to ensure assets are fit for purpose and meet regulatory and customer obligations • Perform pre-commissioning inspections before off-load commissioning tests • Check detailed schematics against connections, protection, and tripping logic diagrams • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing and project-specific meetings as required • Conduct off-load commissioning checks on primary substation plant, insulation resistance, injection tests, circuit logic, relay logic, protection relays, auto-reclose schemes, intertripping, and signalling equipment • Test integration of protection systems with control and SCADA using DNP3 and IEC61850 protocols • Test and prove relay programmable logic files, relay setting files, and DNP3 communication files • Interface with customers and internal and external resources • Complete work in line with company objectives for time, cost, and quality • Record project time and provide timely progress and status reports • Guide and support members of the Protection Commissioning Team • Use and update company data and information systems, including commissioning records and on-site fault/defect investigations • Undertake duties under the CDM Regulations as Designer and/or Contractor

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical Engineering • TP141 OR SR141 OR CE141 Certification essential • Typically 10+ years’ experience practicing as a Commissioning Engineer in the electricity distribution/transmission industry • Detailed knowledge of protection on switchgear, transformers, and feeders across all distribution asset classes and voltages up to and including 400kV • Recent experience in commissioning protection systems associated with generation connections is strongly preferred • Must either possess or be capable of successfully obtaining and maintaining A1 access and supervision authorisation • Must either possess or be capable of successfully obtaining and maintaining A2.1 and A2.4 access and supervision authorisations • Must either possess or be capable of successfully obtaining and maintaining O11.11 testing and commissioning authorisation up to and including 132kV • Must either possess or be capable of successfully obtaining and maintaining O11.18 protection, control, and equipment authorisation • Willingness to travel between work locations, sites, and company/supplier offices • Current and valid UK driving licence • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales • High level of professionalism • Ability to work in accordance with company processes, procedures, and industry best practice
