📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the Legal and Human Resources Department on labor and employment matters. • Advise stakeholders on federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, compliance strategies, and proposed legislation. • Review company policies and provide guidance on employee relations, disciplinary actions, performance management, terminations, reductions in force, and workplace conflicts. • Advise on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, misconduct complaints, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and legal exposure. • Manage legal escalations and provide practical solutions that support business objectives while managing risk. • Review separation agreements, release agreements, severance programs, reorganizations, reductions in force, and workforce restructuring initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. • Advise on employee classification, wage and hour compliance, overtime requirements, pay practices, compensation programs, and employment practices. • Provide guidance on ADA accommodations, interactive processes, return-to-work matters, FMLA, state leave programs, pregnancy accommodations, disability management, and protected leave. • Manage employment-related claims, agency charges, demand letters, and litigation matters with the Legal Department and outside counsel. • Participate in trial preparation, discovery, negotiations, witness preparation, and litigation strategy. • Draft position statements and responses to the EEOC and state labor agencies. • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, executive agreements, offer letters, retention agreements, separation and severance agreements, independent contractor agreements, consulting agreements, and contingent workforce arrangements. • Review and negotiate HR-related vendor contracts and maintain standard employment contract language, templates, and legal provisions. • Advise on restrictive covenants, confidentiality, non-disclosure, non-solicitation, intellectual property, and arbitration provisions. • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting vendor relationships, outsourced services, employee data management, and third-party workforce arrangements. • Support Legal Department initiatives, contract matters, and special projects as assigned.

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and bachelor's degree or college courses/technical training related to Business, Finance, Legal, or a related field; a combination of education and experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree. • Minimum five years of labor and employment law experience, preferably advising employers. • Admission to a state bar in good standing. • Experience supporting Human Resources functions in a corporate environment. • Experience in multi-state employment law compliance. • Prior in-house counsel experience. • Independent legal judgment and discretion in analyzing employment issues, assessing risk, and developing recommendations. • Experience conducting or advising on workplace investigations. • Experience managing agency charges, employment litigation, and outside counsel. • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEO, OSHA, Title VII, ADEA, and PWFA. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, risk assessment, project management, and organizational skills. • Ability to influence leaders, manage confidential information, balance legal compliance with business needs, analyze facts and data, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment and adhere to process protocols. • Must be able to work Monday–Friday during the business week and adapt effectively to workplace stressors.
