📋 Description

• Design and run experiments testing agent reliability, context retention, multi-step task completion, and failure modes • Build and own the evaluation layer to measure whether agents complete work correctly • Research the state of the art in LLM agents, tool use, and reliability • Translate research findings into clear, actionable recommendations for engineering • Prototype promising research ideas into working products and hand off validated solutions • Shape the research roadmap as Bolter grows • Work directly with the GM and product engineer in a lean team • Use specialised AI agents to support implementation

🎯 Requirements

• Track record of applied AI/ML research, ideally in LLM application design, agentic systems, evals, or production AI reliability • Strong experimental design and analysis • Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to prototype experiments independently • Deep familiarity with LLMs, tool use, context management, and failure modes of agentic systems • Strong written communication • Ability to work rigorously and pragmatically with ambiguous problems • Ability to leverage AI agents as a force multiplier • Experience with LLM evals, hallucination mitigation, or production AI reliability at scale is a bonus • Experience building or evaluating agentic systems, tool use, or autonomous workflows is a bonus • Public track record such as papers, open source, blog posts, or side projects is a bonus • Experience in product-led research is a bonus • Candidates who do not meet all listed requirements are still encouraged to apply
