📋 Description

• Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to shape and ship novel consumer products and experiences • Provide legal support for crypto trading, earn, payments, on-chain integrations, equities, and tokenised equities • Advise on product development and regulatory issues in the intersection of crypto and traditional global markets • Distill complex legal and regulatory issues into actionable guidance for product stakeholders and decision-makers • Provide clear recommendations and commercially accountable options for managing legal and regulatory risk • Negotiate and counsel on regulated financial products and services • Report to the Head of Consumer Legal • Contribute to Kraken’s global adoption of crypto and open finance

🎯 Requirements

• Qualified lawyer: Solicitor of England & Wales, Irish Solicitor, or equivalent admitted in an EU Member State • 5+ years’ PQE in financial services law at a regulated financial services firm, crypto services provider, or in private practice • Ideally, direct product counselling experience • Preference for experience advising on regulated MiFID investment services • Familiarity with crypto-asset regimes including MiCA, AMLD5, UK financial promotions, and/or e-money regulations • Outstanding analytical, drafting, and organisational skills • Crisp, plain-English writing • Ability to distill complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-lawyers and product stakeholders • Pragmatic, commercially accountable approach to legal and regulatory risk • Authentic passion for crypto and familiarity with Kraken and competitors’ apps and products • Nice to have: expertise in MiCA applicable to CASPs, including brokerage, custody, and trading platforms • Nice to have: expertise in the UK crypto-asset financial promotions regime and proposed incoming authorisation regime • Nice to have: expertise in MiFID frameworks covering derivatives, equities, funds, and tokenised financial instruments • Nice to have: familiarity with AI tools such as Enterprise GPTs and custom GPT creation
