• Monitor developments, policies and public debate in China’s industrial decarbonisation transition, particularly the steel sector • Track information using official government publications, online sources, social media and professional networks • Assess China’s steel and other industrial sectors at policy and economic levels • Write reports, briefings and articles • Give presentations in Chinese and English on clean energy developments • Conduct in-depth analyses of China’s industrial decarbonisation, especially the steel sector and international trade dimension • Draft research, analysis and conclusions for research reports and policy briefings • Develop and present policy and technical recommendations to Chinese and international audiences, partners, stakeholders, and grant funders • Coordinate with team members on project implementation and output delivery • Communicate evidence-based research findings to policymakers and journalists • Help locate, obtain, and analyse data from Chinese sources while collaborating with analysts and data scientists
• Good command of Chinese and English, spoken and written • Master’s degree and/or at least 5 years of relevant work experience in academic, financial or non-profit research, journalism or other relevant fields • Strong research and analytical skills with experience publishing research and commentary • Strong knowledge of Chinese industrial and steel decarbonisation • Knowledge of economics of the green transition • Knowledge of implications for climate-related trade measures such as the EU’s CBAM • Strong data analysis skills and interest in data-driven research • Strong writing and communication skills to convey complex topics to different audiences in an accessible and fact-based manner are preferred • Preparedness to work with a distributed global team, with preferred experience working in multicultural contexts • Team player with high performance and accountability • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and contribute flexibly in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment • Must be legally allowed to work and be employed by a Finnish organisation
