📋 Description

• Act as the primary security partner for the Walrus team, providing architectural guidance and embedding security practices throughout development, beginning in the design phase • Lead security assessments for new Walrus features and contribute to security initiatives across the Mysten ecosystem • Identify systemic risks and provide actionable remediation plans for complex architectural challenges • Drive a security-by-design culture within Walrus and the wider Mysten organization • Use AI-driven tools and advanced automation to identify and remediate low-hanging security issues • Provide strategic oversight on infrastructure and product security issues affecting Walrus and the broader organization • Collaborate with engineering leadership to prioritize security roadmap items and balance feature velocity with platform security posture • Mentor senior and junior engineers, set technical direction for security standards, and establish engineering best practices

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience • 8+ years of industry experience in security engineering • Proven track record operating at Staff (E6) level or equivalent • Extensive security generalist experience across infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security • Strong proficiency building, deploying, and managing automated security tooling • Demonstrated use of AI/ML or advanced static/dynamic analysis to improve security outcomes at scale • Deep expertise collaborating with engineering teams during the design phase to identify and mitigate high-risk design flaws • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical direction and lead cross-functional security initiatives • Employment contingent on successful completion of a background check • Technical understanding of decentralized storage, distributed systems, or the Web3 stack is preferred, not required • Experience leading security-focused transformations or implementing security-by-design frameworks is preferred • Ability to balance tactical hands-on security work with strategic planning and leadership is preferred
