• Plan, facilitate and lead user research activities in a key delivery programme • Lead multidisciplinary teams and clients toward inclusive, accessible and effective research outcomes • Support and line manage user research team members, including appraisals and professional development • Define and refine how disciplines work together • Progress NEC Digital Studio’s inclusive, accessible and effective design practice • Identify and help win new projects through client opportunities, proposals and pitches • Support development and delivery of Design School courses • Work hand-in-hand with government, NHS, voluntary, not-for-profit and private-sector clients • Collaborate with interaction designers, content designers and developers • Participate in weekly User Research team meet-ups to share work, discuss implications and learn methods • Contribute to evidence-led, accessible and ethical digital solutions for public services
• Significant experience delivering fast-paced user research projects • Experience advocating for user research activities within multidisciplinary teams • Experience working with Service Design and Digital roles • Conducting ethical, inclusive user research and identifying accessibility needs • Planning and conducting research activities across agile project phases according to GDS service standards • Qualitative analysis and synthesis to produce user journeys, user stories and user needs • Facilitation of user interviews, usability testing, co-analysis and co-synthesis sessions • Interest or experience in service design thinking and outcomes • Strong written communication skills for sharing findings • Ability to produce clear insights and recommendations collaboratively • Proactive and autonomous approach • Stakeholder management, negotiation and client guidance • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in user-centred design projects • Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; documentary evidence required • Satisfactory vetting, references and occupational health checks • SC clearance required • CV, cover letter, and portfolio required
