• Ensure work is performed in accordance with safety policies and procedures • Review and ensure correct PPE is available and being used properly • Create PLOTO and LOTO switch plans for approval • Act as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO, and switch plan LOTO • Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs • Supervise and train junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, including grid integration and communication problems • Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and address system performance issues • Develop and implement corrective action plans • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs • Prepare technical reports and presentations for management • Provide oversight and direction in work order documentation to junior technicians • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians • Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures • Perform other duties as assigned
• 2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred • OSHA 30-hour certification • NFPA 70e certification • FAA Part 107 Certification, or proficiency operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes • Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems • Proficient use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills • Valid driver's license and clean driving record • Ability to drive confidently and safely • Ability to stand for long periods and walk distances up to three miles per day • Ability to navigate ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while maintaining three points of contact • Visual acuity for depth perception, no field-of-vision issues, and ability to distinguish between colors • Comfort working in varied climate conditions, including extreme heat above 100°F and extreme cold below 32°F for periods exceeding one hour • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
