📋 Description

• Administer and support the Microsoft SQL Server estate, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades and operational support • Maintain SQL Server high-availability and disaster-recovery configurations, including Always On availability groups and failover clustering • Monitor and tune database performance, including query optimisation, indexing, statistics and capacity planning • Manage database security, logins, roles and permissions according to least-privilege principles and audit requirements • Design, run and maintain SQL Agent jobs, maintenance plans and database integrity checks • Test and maintain backups and disaster-recovery processes, including invocation testing, to meet contracted RPO/RTO obligations • Support database migrations and upgrades, including migration toward Azure-native services • Administer Active Directory, including trusts, Kerberos delegation, SQL Server SPNs, service accounts, certificate services and certificate lifecycle management • Administer and maintain Windows Server and IIS infrastructure • Maintain software and associated components on Third Platform Services (TPS) • Work with information security to align database and server estates with security policies, control frameworks and audit requirements • Remediate identified risks and vulnerabilities • Respond to IT audit and customer due-diligence requests and provide supporting evidence • Manage third-party vendors and suppliers, including technical liaison, escalations and coordinating change delivery • Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and knowledgebase articles • Monitor and respond to database, infrastructure and monitoring-platform alerts • Perform out-of-hours routine maintenance and occasional project work • Work on database, infrastructure and security projects as required • Contribute to team planning

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar technical role, with a significant focus on Microsoft SQL Server database administration • Experience in an environment providing and supporting B2B customer-facing technology • Experience working within a regulated or externally audited industry • Understanding of ISO 27001, SOC 2 / ISAE 3402 / AAF, CIS benchmarks/controls, or equivalent frameworks such as NIST • Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments, ideally SQL Server 2022 • Experience with installation and patching, backup/restore and point-in-time recovery, security/permissions, SQL Agent job management, and performance tuning • Proficiency in T-SQL • Strong Windows Server administration • Advanced Active Directory administration, including trusts, Kerberos delegation and certificate management • Knowledge of Windows-based IIS application administration • PowerShell scripting • Experience with backup and disaster recovery tools and processes • Strong documentation skills • Experience managing third-party vendors and suppliers • Desirable: SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery design, including Always On availability groups, clustering and log shipping • Desirable: Azure SQL Database and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance, including migration from SQL Server on VMs • Desirable: Basic Microsoft Azure administration, including VMs, storage, networking fundamentals and resource management • Desirable: Microsoft Dynamics CRM administration • Desirable: ADFS administration • Desirable: Redgate SQL Monitor or similar SQL monitoring/tooling • Desirable: PostgreSQL administration • Desirable: Microsoft BizTalk Server administration • Desirable: Microsoft SharePoint Server administration • Desirable: Fortinet/FortiGate firewall administration • Desirable: PRTG, Grafana or similar monitoring platforms • Desirable: Atlassian Jira and Confluence • Desirable: Payment/settlement gateways, trading interfaces, CASS or similar financial-market infrastructure experience • Desirable: Wealth management or stockbroking domain knowledge
