• Own, triage, size and prioritise the Change and reporting backlog, driving items through to completion • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and explain data constraints and options to Change stakeholders • Complete source profiling, mapping, model design and non-functional requirements analysis for larger data engineering work • Build, test and release defined reports, semantic models and data extracts using SQL, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric • Maintain visibility of backlog size, throughput and burn down, reporting progress to the Data Lead and Change stakeholders • Validate outputs, apply standards for definitions and reconciliation, and resolve discrepancies between reports • Handle day-to-day data requests while protecting delivery capacity • Support analysts and developers through specification review, peer review and knowledge sharing • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives • Document delivered items, decisions and remaining backlog for handover to the permanent team • Deliver a measurable backlog burn down, completed reports and data outputs, build-ready specifications, documented definitions and reconciliation notes, regular progress reporting, and a clean handover
• Strong SQL skills for complex analysis, query optimisation and reconciliation across systems • Experience building Power BI semantic models, DAX measures and reports • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, notebooks and semantic models, or strong equivalent cloud data platform experience • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications for data engineers • Experience owning and reducing a backlog, sizing work, prioritising with stakeholders and delivering to committed dates • Confidence working with Change, operations and senior stakeholders • Understanding of data governance principles, definitions, lineage and reconciliation • Awareness of data protection when outputs include personal or client data • Ability to mentor analysts and developers through review and knowledge sharing • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment • Experience in financial services, platforms or another regulated environment is desirable
