Phoenix Ecommerce Technologies is an ecommerce infrastructure and payments platform built for high-volume direct-to-consumer (D2C) merchants. It provides a headless, no-code customizable checkout and funnel builder, AI-powered decline recovery and payment routing, tokenized vaulting, subscription and billing management, and analytics to optimize approvals, conversions, and lifetime value. The product emphasizes higher authorization rates, faster wallet-native checkouts (Apple Pay, Google Pay), multi-processor support, and retention automation for subscription and direct-response brands.

📋 Description

• Own storefronts, checkout, payments, the merchant OS, and the AI agent, including roadmap, sequencing, specifications, quality, and rollout • Establish a higher standard for shipped work based on merchant adoption, business impact, and production quality • Measure product superiority against competitors using revenue per visitor, checkout conversion, page speed, approval rate, activation, retention, and user experience • Lead and raise a small team of principal-level product managers • Set standards for PRDs, prototypes, specifications, test cases, launches, reference merchants, and KPIs • Maintain direct relationships with top merchants through channels and weekly calls • Convert recurring merchant pain points into shipped fixes • Define quality standards for the Phoenix AI agent and test it for production-grade revenue decisions • Partner with the CTO and engineering leads on delivery, dates, visibility into slips, and efficient use of engineering resources • Maintain competitive intelligence on products, pricing, and roadmaps; produce response memos within 48 hours of material competitor releases • Act as a strategic thinking partner to the CEO on future company bets • Provide tactical feedback to PMs and engineers and address underperformance

🎯 Requirements

• Experience as the #1 or #2 product leader at a growth-stage company • Owned a product surface where conversion, latency, and reliability had direct economic consequences • Demonstrated measurable improvement taking a product from behind a competitor to ahead • Technical fluency: ability to read PRs, understand gateway migrations and database locking, and participate in architecture conversations • Power user of modern AI tools; experience shipping AI into production with knowledge of determinism and evaluations • Experience building for customers whose revenue depends on the product, such as fintech, payments, commerce, or similar domains • Experience thriving in fast, resource-constrained, high-intensity environments in the last 5 years • Experience with ecommerce, direct response, or high-risk payments is a plus • Experience running a DTC or direct response store is a plus • Ability to write code or build working prototypes with AI tools is a plus • Experience shipping an AI agent or LLM-powered feature used by customers in production is a plus • Experience founding a company or serving as an early operator is a plus
