📋 Description

• Own and define the semantic layer, including metric definitions, structure, governance, and enforcement • Set data-modelling standards across all domains and complexity levels • Build and run the Analytics Engineering community of practice, including code reviews, shared patterns, documentation, and onboarding • Own and develop AI-native practices for writing, reviewing, and migrating data models • Lead responsible AI-augmented migration work across the Analytics Warehouse and Operational Data Platform • Design documented, structured data models and metric definitions for reliable AI-service consumption • Engage backend and product engineers to improve upstream data-contract discipline and schema ownership • Contribute to customer-facing Data & AI Products, including conversational analytics • Provide architecture guidance, semantic-layer decisions, and standards support to embedded Analytics Engineers • Partner with Data Engineering, Data Serving, GenAI Platform, self-serve analytics, and BI governance teams • Map current modelling and semantic-layer practices, contribute to tooling decisions, onboard engineers, review pull requests, and establish community-of-practice influence during the first six months

🎯 Requirements

• Deep demonstrated expertise in dbt and data modelling practices • Deep BigQuery and SQL expertise, including performance, cost considerations, and complex analytical domains • Real experience owning a semantic layer, such as LookML, dbt MetricFlow, or equivalent • Genuine AI-native development practice using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent • Experience setting standards across teams without direct management authority • Understanding of LLM and agentic-tool data-layer requirements • Proven experience engaging with backend engineers on data contracts and senior stakeholders on semantic-layer strategy • Experience leading technical initiatives with organisation-wide or cross-team impact in a 500–1000+ person technology business • Prior experience owning a semantic layer is non-negotiable • English-language application required • Legal right to work in the selected employment location
