📋 Description

• This is a remote position. • The Company Stears is a VC-backed African data and intelligence startup building the Bloomberg of Africa. • For global organizations investing in African markets, Stears is the data and analytics provider that enables quick, accurate decisions for financial and operational opportunities. • Stears users get access to raw data from various sources, trend data for a wide range of data sets, and constantly updated analysis by researchers. • Stears goes beyond just data to provide insights and context based on knowledge of local markets and delivers it all in an easy-to-use interface usable by anyone, not just researchers. • We are looking for a senior data engineer who loves to learn and be challenged, and enjoys working in a high performing team where she is supported, given responsibility, and held to high standards. • To meet our growth and expansion goals, we’ve built and deployed solutions at scale with multiple approaches across various tools and cloud providers.

🎯 Requirements

• 4 - 6 years of experience in the field • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Shell, Java, and SQL • Working knowledge of AI/ML/Language models • Knowledge of data modeling, database management, and ETL processes • Experience with big data technologies like BigQuery, RDS, Snowflake, Spark, Flink • Familiarity with data warehousing and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
