📋 Description

• Serve as a senior technical advisor to city governments across North, Central, and South America • Help cities design, build, and launch small-scale pilots of new resident services • Prototype and deliver digital products and services, including data- and AI-enabled solutions • Guide city teams through the full product development lifecycle • Advise on system and data architecture suitable for pilots and scalable growth • Prototype and test possible solutions to validate assumptions • Assess when machine learning and large language models are appropriate • Prototype and demonstrate solutions while explaining the underlying reasoning to clients • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, AI engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary city teams • Shape technical decisions and trade-offs without owning final decisions • Build in-house product development capability within city teams

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive hands-on technical experience • Strong knowledge of system and data architecture, data pipelines, DevOps, and infrastructure • Track record of delivering and deploying robust end-to-end solutions across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments • Experience working with legacy systems and resource-constrained environments • Familiarity with AI and machine learning approaches, including large language models • Experience deploying AI/ML solutions or working alongside ML engineers to integrate them into products • Experience taking products from early concept to first release and laying foundations for scale • Track record of rapid prototyping and assumption testing • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with product managers, designers, and other disciplines • Ability to explain technical ideas and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences • Experience setting technical direction for a project or small team and guiding other engineers as a tech lead or senior engineer • Experience influencing technical decisions without direct authority • Curiosity and flexibility in problem solving, and comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty • Professional working proficiency in English and in Spanish and/or Portuguese • Fluency in English and at least one of Spanish or Portuguese • Nice to have: experience with multicultural teams and international projects • Nice to have: experience with government or public-sector organisations or services for residents and citizens • Nice to have: familiarity with responsible AI practices, including data privacy, bias and fairness, transparency, and public-sector AI governance • Nice to have: experience supporting organisations to build technical capability through coaching, mentoring, or setting up teams and practices • Ability to record a 1–3 minute application video in Spanish or Portuguese • Availability to work in GMT/BST or CET-friendly time zones
