📋 Description

• Lead the design and delivery of internal AI tools and systems supporting refurbed’s transformation into an AI-native company • Own services, integrations, and deployment pathways from prototype to secure, reliable full-scale internal deployment • Partner with the Head of Internal Technology & AI to assess feasibility, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions • Collaborate with core platform Engineering teams • Design, build, and operate back-end services, APIs, and integrations for internal AI tools and workflows • Manage secure deployment paths enabling non-engineers to launch internal tools with guardrails • Build and maintain shared AI capabilities, reusable skills, plugins, MCP connectors, and an internal tool registry • Deliver company-wide AI services and a standard toolkit for new joiners • Evaluate architecture, model selection, integrations, and build-versus-buy options • Shape the technical direction and scope of the internal AI platform • Define risk-based review frameworks and assess internally built AI applications • Implement access controls, sandboxing, model-usage controls, and data-handling safeguards • Move business-critical automations to reliable supported infrastructure • Establish and improve technical standards, runtimes, and best practices • Drive adoption through demonstrations, documentation, and hands-on integration support • Partner with departmental AI champions to remove blockers and develop safe, maintainable solutions • Document systems for operation, maintenance, and extension • Monitor AI developments and translate relevant advances into business opportunities

🎯 Requirements

• Experienced senior back-end engineer with a strong track record of building and operating production systems in Go, Python, or a similar language • Ability to own services end to end, including architecture, deployment, secrets management, monitoring, and ongoing reliability • Experience building AI- or LLM-powered applications for production use • Understanding of model integration, evaluation, observability, and production incident response • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor • Understanding of reusable skills, plugins, MCP integrations, agent workflows, and agent orchestration • Ability to evaluate tools and platforms and make build-versus-buy decisions • Strong technical and product judgment • Ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders and apply a product mindset to internal tools • Security-conscious approach covering identity, access control, secrets, and data exposure • Valid right to work in Europe • Nice-to-have experience with Google Cloud Platform, Go, Python, product discovery, corporate IT, identity and access management, application security, or AI transformation (optional advantages, not requirements)
