📋 Description

• Lead the design and research team of two product designers and one user researcher • Build the UX function and champion the team • Set strategic direction for design and research operations • Represent and advocate for design and research at leadership level • Partner with Product Leadership to translate business priorities into a sequenced Design & Research roadmap • Define the vision, success measures, and strategic contribution of the design and research function • Raise design and research maturity through critique and quality oversight • Establish scalable initiatives such as a robust design system and design/content playbooks • Set strategic direction for AI in design and research workflows and establish guardrails • Foster practical AI adoption and fluency within the team • Ensure design and research inform product and AI direction through user insight • Embed Design Thinking throughout the product lifecycle • Identify strategic UX opportunities across the product • Balance leadership priorities with team capacity and maintain focus on high-impact work • Coach, mentor, and provide regular feedback through one-to-ones • Build career frameworks and progression paths for Design and Research • Encourage continuous learning, adaptability, and development

🎯 Requirements

• Genuine understanding of both design and research disciplines • Proven experience in a senior design leadership role • Experience owning a function and leading teams of designers and researchers • Track record of influencing product direction at leadership level • Track record of advocating for design and research at leadership level and influencing product strategy • Experience building or maturing a design function, including processes, systems, playbooks, or ways of working • Curiosity about AI and its impact on design and research workflows • Compassionate, proactive leadership style • Ability to navigate difficult stakeholder dynamics • Strong communication skills translating design value for leadership, product, and engineering • Comfortable giving and receiving direct feedback • Experience in or familiarity with the hotel or travel industry is nice to have • Familiarity with building or scaling teams is nice to have • Experience building and maintaining a design system is nice to have • Experience working in scale-ups or startups is nice to have • Eligibility to work in the required location/timezone; sponsorship is not offered
