• Provide technical research, policy analysis, and value-chain expertise on renewable hydrogen, PtX fuels, and sustainable aviation fuel topics • Support RSB’s work on PtX fuels, advanced biofuels, SAF policy, certification readiness, and grant-funded programmes • Support technical research, stakeholder mapping, policy analysis, and drafting across RSB’s PtX fuels and advanced biofuels work • Analyse renewable electricity, hydrogen and CO₂ sourcing, biomass, and waste feedstocks • Assess regional development opportunities, certification requirements, GHG accounting considerations, cross-sector resource dynamics, and international market access • Contribute to roadmap development and policy briefing outputs, initially focusing mainly on India and potentially supporting MENA-related activities • Support other team priorities across RSB’s PtX fuels and advanced biofuels portfolio • Produce technical research reports, policy briefs, roadmap inputs, stakeholder mapping and consultation summaries • Conduct resource and feedstock assessments • Perform life-cycle GHG modelling and carbon accounting analysis • Conduct market, regulatory, and certification-readiness analysis under frameworks such as EU RED, ICAO CORSIA, and UK SAF policy • Complete onboarding to RSB’s systems, delivery methods, and sustainability framework if accepted onto the roster • Submit proposals for defined project scopes when invited
• Strong written and spoken English proficiency • Availability overlapping with CET/CEST working hours for a minimum of 4 hours per day • Proven output/delivery track record in the area of expertise • Compliance with applicable local laws and regulations, including tax and social security obligations • Legal authorisation to perform consultancy services in the country of residence or operation • Strong collaboration and communication skills • Ability to operate autonomously and proactively communicate progress, risks, and opportunities • Self-sufficiency in a remote and fully digital working environment • Reliable internet connectivity • For organisations: ability to assign appropriately qualified personnel and ensure continuity of delivery, including cover for absences • For organisations: confirmation that proposed personnel meet the essential criteria • Technical expertise in PtX fuels, renewable hydrogen technologies, advanced biofuels, or sustainable aviation fuel pathways (desirable) • Familiarity with EU RED, ICAO CORSIA, and UK SAF policy (desirable) • Understanding of global PtX fuel and advanced biofuels developments, market-access requirements, and relevant resources and feedstocks (desirable) • Track record of producing original technical content, resource assessments, policy analysis, roadmap inputs, applied sustainability analysis, or certification-related analysis (desirable) • Knowledge of renewable hydrogen, PtX and advanced biofuel production routes and value chains (desirable) • Understanding of scale-up challenges involving renewable electricity, eligible carbon sources, sustainable feedstocks, hydrogen infrastructure, project bankability, certification readiness, and market recognition (desirable) • Familiarity with life-cycle GHG analysis and accounting approaches relevant to PtX fuels (desirable) • Awareness of PtX market and policy trends (desirable)
