• Collaborate with component qualification engineers and engineers from other disciplines • Guide the work of less experienced project team members • Work on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants • Prepare and review design calculations • Review vendor test/analysis qualification reports • Develop specifications • Revise client design basis documents • Support designers with drawing development • Perform structural analysis and design of steel panels/cabinets, connections, equipment foundation loads, and equipment supports, including seismic effects • Perform primary containment penetration design and analysis, including fatigue effects • Conduct seismic qualification activities, including reviewing seismic test reports and preparing/reviewing seismic-loading analyses • Perform environmental qualification life assessments using the Arrhenius method • Update qualification documentation • Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering with emphasis in Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program • Seven or more years of experience related to component qualification activities in the nuclear power plant industry • Proficiency with structural mechanics analysis using Mathcad • Familiarity with AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI, and ASTM design codes and standards • Familiarity with Regulatory Guides, IEEE Standards, and EPRI Documents associated with seismic and environmental qualification • Experience completing ASME Section III design reports and/or design specifications • Proficiency with MS Office applications • Good written and verbal communication skills • U.S. work authorization; the employer does not sponsor employees for work authorization • MSCE degree valued but not required • Experience with finite element analysis using SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and/or STRUDL valued but not required • PE license valued but not required • Willingness or ability to lead others using automation and AI tools • Ability to oversee engineers programming or scripting with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required
