📋 Description

• Review and adapt finance systems, models, controls and processes for the company's current and future needs • Own the month-end timetable and manage the outsourced finance partner • Review monthly management accounts, including revenue, costs, accruals, prepayments, deferred income and material judgements • Identify missing invoices or incomplete information • Resolve issues across the company, maintain an action log and ensure corrections are completed before CEO review • Own and maintain the rolling cash-flow forecast • Lead the annual budget and regular re-forecasting process • Model cash and profit impacts of hiring, customer timing changes, investments and other scenarios • Prepare the financial section of the board pack, supporting spreadsheet and slide deck • Explain performance, cash, runway, forecasts, SaaS measures, risks and decisions • Oversee commission plans and calculations and ensure approved commission is paid accurately and on time • Support commercial and hiring decisions with financial analysis • Report directly to the CEO and work approximately two days per week

🎯 Requirements

• Qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA • Experience as a Financial Controller or in a comparable hands-on finance role • Experience in a growing SaaS, technology or other recurring-revenue business • Strong management accounting skills, including month-end review, accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition and variance analysis • Ability to build and maintain cash-flow forecasts, budgets and scenario models • Ability to prepare clear financial information and commentary for boards or senior leadership teams • Comfortable managing an outsourced bookkeeping or accounting partner while retaining internal ownership of the output • Understanding of SaaS measures such as ARR, bookings, revenue, gross margin, retention and cash runway • Strong spreadsheet skills and ability to improve an existing model without unnecessary complexity • Ability to investigate missing invoices or incorrect accruals • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and challenge assumptions constructively with senior colleagues • Ability to work effectively in a part-time role • Experience improving finance systems, models, controls and processes as a company grows • Nice-to-haves include venture-backed scale-up experience, SaaS finance, board-pack preparation, commission calculations, annual budgets, rolling re-forecasts, start-up or scaling technology company experience, year-end accounts/tax/payroll/compliance coordination, and commercial decision support
