📋 Description

• Lead defined-scope client engagements end to end, including scoping, proposal contributions, delivery to timeline and budget, and presenting findings to senior client stakeholders • Work with the Director of Climate Science and Policy on the largest advisory engagements and own substantial workstreams • Build expertise in policy and standards governing corporate buyers, including SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard v2, UK and EU compliance markets, and greenhouse gas removal standards • Produce assessment reports, strategy documents, portfolio and price models, and board-ready summaries • Support sales and marketing initiatives promoting climate thought leadership and educating potential CDR buyers • Cultivate relationships with CDR buyers, support CDR portfolio development and share market insights • Maintain expertise on CDR project suppliers and current scientific developments in climate science • Direct external associates and junior colleagues on engagements • Progressively take leadership of larger and more complex advisory engagements • Help build Supercritical's advisory practice from its first engagements

🎯 Requirements

• MSc Degree or higher in chemical engineering, environmental science or relevant natural sciences such as chemistry; OR BEng/BSc with relevant work experience (e.g., 5+ years) • Expertise in carbon dioxide removal (CDR), including in-depth aptitude across multiple engineered CDR pathways such as biochar, BECCS, mineralisation, ERW and DACCS • Demonstrable experience delivering client-facing consulting, advisory or commissioned research projects • Experience owning a deliverable to a deadline for an external client • Previous experience working in the climate and sustainability field • Previous experience in a client-facing role or engaging with industrial stakeholders • Excellent written communication • Excellent communication skills and passion for clear scientific communication • Comfort with scoping advisory engagements, estimating effort and protecting scope during delivery • Resilience and adaptability to ambiguity • Curiosity and broad understanding of carbon, climate and sustainability issues • High attention to detail • Willingness to learn and openness to training • Excellent analytical skills • Good proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets • Working knowledge of policy and standards relevant to corporate buyers, such as SBTi, GHG Protocol, EU or UK ETS, BSI Flex, Puro.earth or Isometric • PhD in a relevant discipline (nice to have) • Experience at a consultancy, engineering firm or research programme selling work to external clients (nice to have) • Experience managing subcontractors, associates or junior team members (nice to have) • Published research or contributions to standards, methodologies or government evidence (nice to have) • Applicants outside the UK must be within 3 hours of GMT/BST, willing to travel to London quarterly, and use an Employer of Record arrangement • UK sponsorship is unavailable
