📋 Description

• Build and evolve data platform foundations for safe dbt development • Establish dbt standards and guardrails, including testing, source freshness, documentation, and code review practices • Improve data workflow developer experience through CI/CD, automated checks, and repeatable deployment patterns • Manage Terraform infrastructure for pipelines, IAM, and environments • Improve and troubleshoot CDC replication from MySQL to BigQuery using Datastream • Build tooling for backfills, drift detection, and source-to-warehouse reconciliation • Contribute to data ingestion and platform evolution decisions involving latency, throughput, and CDC approaches • Partner with Analytics and Finance to define trusted metrics and Looker dashboards • Build and maintain analytics-ready datasets for self-serve reporting and experimentation • Support customer-facing, multi-tenant reporting with correctness, tenant isolation, and query performance • Develop and optimize BigQuery data models • Implement dbt ELT best practices, including testing, documentation, and versioning • Design, build, and maintain scalable Python, dbt, and GKE data pipelines • Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability for critical datasets and reporting • Optimize BigQuery and data pipeline performance and cost • Integrate data workflows with backend services and APIs • Work with Product and Engineering to translate business needs into data solutions

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep data platform experience • Strong programming skills in Python • Strong SQL skills and experience with analytical data modeling • Hands-on experience with BigQuery or a similar cloud data warehouse • Production experience with dbt, including building models • Experience improving infrastructure around data workflows, including reliability, observability, CI/CD, permissions, environments, and deployment patterns • Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform • Experience with a major cloud platform, preferably GCP • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, version control, and code reviews • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located without current or future employer-sponsored visa sponsorship • Completion of SDPC training and role-specific SDPC responsibilities • Preferred: GCP services including Datastream, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, and Pub/Sub • Preferred: Change data capture experience, including GCP Datastream or MySQL binlog/GTID replication • Preferred: Kubernetes-based orchestration such as Argo Workflows • Preferred: Looker, LookML, semantic modeling, and dashboards • Preferred: Ruby on Rails or Go • Preferred: Product collaboration and translating business needs into data solutions
