📋 Description

• Lead research and engineering activities focused on advanced methodologies and prototyping tools for AI/digital system assessments • Establish partnerships with industry, government, standards development organizations, certification organizations, and AI safety teams • Lead transition of DSRI methodologies and prototype tools to partners for further development and deployment • Hire, lead, and develop high-performing researchers and engineers • Define key performance indicators for DSRI’s AI/digital safety research with the Executive Director • Manage research projects to ensure deliverables are implemented on time and within budget • Develop research proposals, budgets, and timelines • Review and approve or reject research proposals based on technical or analytical merit and feasibility • Communicate research findings through presentations, expert panels, policy committees, and written communications • Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic planning and annual budgeting

🎯 Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline • Minimum of 10 years of experience • Proven track record in research project management, test generation, and evaluation • Expertise in AI/systems and advanced testing methodologies • Experience managing and/or mentoring distributed AI/digital research and engineering teams • Problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions • Leadership skills to align multiple stakeholders and deliver results • Positive, collaborative attitude and interpersonal skills • High degree of curiosity and continuous learning mentality • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Ability to operate at strategic and operational levels, with attention to detail, quality, speed, and outcomes
