📋 Description

• Own meaningful backend engineering work from early design through deployment and ongoing improvement • Build production Python and Django services supporting client-facing technology • Write APIs and workflows for the next generation of client-facing technology • Influence architecture, security, reliability, testing, and maintainability decisions • Work with product, QA, platform, and engineering colleagues across the software lifecycle • Improve development through automation, modern engineering practices, and responsible AI-assisted development • Apply engineering skills to data and technology that help organizations understand complex global risks

🎯 Requirements

• Strong commercial software engineering experience building and supporting backend services in production • Strong hands-on Python development experience • Production experience with Django, including request lifecycle, ORM, migrations, configuration, and testing practices • Experience designing maintainable APIs and backend systems using REST, data modeling, and relational database practices • Knowledge of authentication and authorization, including single sign-on patterns and secure API design • Experience with automated testing, peer code review, continuous integration, and delivery practices • Experience diagnosing application, database, networking, or performance issues in live environments • Understanding of cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure as code, ideally within AWS • Strong understanding of backend security risks and how to address them throughout the software development lifecycle • Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly and work effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues • FastAPI or another modern Python API framework, PostgreSQL or MySQL, Docker, Celery, Redis, Sentry, AWS services, cloud-native application development, asynchronous or event-driven processing, AWS CDK, Terraform, Scrum or Kanban, or product-led/data-rich/B2B software experience would be valuable
