📋 Description

• Perform critical examination of drug products, drug substances, packaging, patient information leaflets and labels in various languages • Train new forensic scientists, customs and ministries of health on anti-counterfeiting best practices • Write concise analytical reports and translate findings into non-scientific terms • Use GC-MS and FT-IR techniques, with awareness of Raman spectroscopy • Maintain a tidy forensic laboratory and schedule key equipment maintenance • Present data using PowerPoint and posters at symposiums • Process and review data, interpret results and report experimental outcomes to the Forensic Director • Lead instrumentation troubleshooting and investigations of aberrant sample results • Maintain laboratory documentation according to cGMP practices • Contribute to project delivery through laboratory housekeeping, ordering and shipping samples • Identify improvements in working practices and procedures with the Director • Oversee day-to-day work of less experienced analytical laboratory staff • Adhere to EHS, GLP, Quality and Compliance policies and procedures • Perform other duties consistent with the grade of the role • Support a student in completing their year-in-industry project and presentation

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree (for example Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Forensics) or equivalent, or substantial practical work experience • Willingness to testify and defend own case works in a Court of Law • Willingness to travel to deliver training and enhance networking • Good understanding of laboratory safety and best practice • Very good verbal and written communication skills • Good understanding of physical, organic and analytical chemistry principles • Advanced knowledge in specific chemistry-related areas according to experience • Familiarity with analytical chemistry calculations and application of statistics • Substantial practical experience with modern laboratory techniques, including HPLC and FT-IR • Previous practical use of GC-MS desirable • Ability to plan the day-to-day work of a small team • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team • Ability to lead troubleshooting and investigations • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams • Enthusiasm for a laboratory-based role
