📋 Description

• Run the day-to-day finance function during the Head of Finance's maternity leave • Code and post transactions in Xero • Reconcile bank accounts, cards and payment platforms across entities and currencies • Maintain prepayments, accruals, fixed assets and intercompany balances • Complete month-end close • Raise customer and partner invoices and maintain supporting Excel files • Allocate cash receipts, chase overdue invoices and report on debtors and cash collection • Process supplier bills, payment batches and supplier queries • Review and approve employee expenses and reconcile Pleo company cards • Run monthly UK payroll, including starters, leavers, changes, pensions and benefits • Prepare and submit VAT returns through Xero • Identify VAT issues and provide information to external accountants for year-end accounts and corporation tax • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary when needed • Consolidate multi-currency group accounts • Update cash-flow forecasts and highlight risks to the leadership team • Respond to finance queries and data requests • Work with external accountants on year-end accounts and tax returns

🎯 Requirements

• Based in the UK, with the right to work in the UK • Proven experience running day-to-day finance, ideally as a senior bookkeeper, assistant accountant or finance manager • Strong Xero skills, including bank reconciliations, multi-currency and month-end close • Confident with UK tax: VAT returns and PAYE payroll • Advanced Excel • Comfortable using AI tools (Claude) in daily work • Able to work accurately, independently and to deadlines, and explain numbers clearly to non-finance colleagues • AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified or part-qualified (desirable) • Experience in a startup or scale-up, ideally with multi-entity groups including US subsidiaries (desirable)
