📋 Description

• Deliver maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair services for freight wagons across the UK rail network • Respond to urgent call-outs for wagon faults, derailments, and brake issues at any time Monday–Sunday • Perform scheduled maintenance, component replacements, and safety inspections • Liaise with terminal staff and train operators to minimise disruption • Prepare tools, parts, and documentation before attending site • Provide technical support for internal requirements during on-call periods • Conduct dynamic risk assessments and follow safe systems of work • Maintain PPE and site-specific safety compliance • Report safety concerns and participate in incident investigations • Complete maintenance records, fault reports, and inspection sheets • Support continuous improvement and defect trend analysis • Record time, parts, and consumables for cost tracking • Maintain vehicle and equipment readiness • Support project delivery, commissioning, and modification programmes • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to team briefings • Represent the company professionally and participate in training activities

🎯 Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or HNC/HND level, NVQ Level 4, or Foundation degree • Experience in freight wagon maintenance • Fault-finding and repair skills • Ability to work independently • Good communication and IT skills • Full UK driving licence • Ability to work unsociable hours and travel • PTS or equivalent site access certification
