📋 Description

• Work as part of a two-person Rail Flaw Detection crew inspecting America's rail infrastructure • Safely operate and care for Rail Inspection vehicles on and off track • Assist the Chief Operator by adjusting inspection speeds, communicating upcoming track features, and flagging defects • Repair the ultrasonic testing carriage and components under the Chief Operator's supervision • Prepare the vehicle for the next day's testing through light cleaning, water-tank refilling, and equipment checks • Conduct DOT vehicle inspection checks before and after each trip • Drive Rail Inspection Vehicles on roads and rails • Maintain and submit electronic driver logs, fuel reports, business expense records, and required documentation • Assist the Chief Operator during testing activities • Mark defective rails with permanent markers, spray paint, and flagging tape • Perform light housekeeping and maintain a clean work environment • Partner with the Chief Operator on 5S activities • Grease, lubricate, tighten bolts, and repair or arrange repairs for defective ultrasonic testing carriage parts • Maintain vehicle inventory and submit monthly inventory and maintenance reports

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or GED • One or more years of professional driver experience preferred • Good driving habits and experience with larger trucks • Mechanical ability/knowledge of basic hand tools • General computer skills • Knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Windows • Willingness to be away from home for an extended period • Willingness to travel frequently and extensively (estimated ~60% travel) • Previous railroad experience is a plus • Team player willing to prioritize customer satisfaction safely and ethically • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs. and stand for long periods • Ability to sit, stand, and walk unassisted • Ability to work in all weather conditions and travel with very little notice • Ability and willingness to perform mechanical/technical work on fleet vehicles • Ability to use required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hats, safety vests, leather gloves, and safety toe boots • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. • Successful completion of a drug screen and fitness for duty test, as applicable • Normal, correctable vision
