Descrição

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the Mojo compiler backend, including IR lowering, optimization passes, and code generation for heterogeneous hardware • Act as technical lead for backend compiler engineers • Break down ambiguous problems, drive design reviews, set technical standards, and multiply team output • Use and extend profiling tools to identify optimization opportunities and design compiler passes • Lead developer-tooling efforts involving LLDB, GDB-family debuggers, profilers, debug-information generation, data introspection, and visualizers • Mentor engineers and develop contributors and owners in tooling • Steer editor and language-tooling experiences, including LSP and IDE extensions • Partner with Mojo language, MAX, kernel, and hardware-enablement teams • Engage Modular’s open-source community • Raise the technical bar and influence direction beyond the immediate team

🎯 Requisitos

• Deep, hands-on compiler experience in IR design, optimization passes, and code generation in a production toolchain • Strong experience with LLVM and MLIR, including dialects, lowering pipelines, and code generation • Track record of technical leadership without formal management • Strong C++ and Python skills • Hands-on experience with LLDB and GDB-family debuggers, ideally extending or building debugger support • Familiarity with editor/IDE tooling, language servers (LSP), VS Code extensions, or comparable developer-experience surfaces • Working knowledge of CPU and/or GPU/accelerator architecture and performance analysis • Excellent collaboration and communication across distributed, cross-functional teams • Candidates based in the US, Canada, and UK are welcome to apply • Ability to work remotely or from the Los Altos, CA or Edinburgh office • Willingness to attend in-person onboarding and travel 2–4 times a year • E-Verify/Form I-9 work authorization process applies for US employment
