Beschreibung

• Perform complex professional coding for specialty or multi-specialty physician practices • Evaluate medical records and validate appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes • Apply nationally recognized coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements • Consult medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information • Code ICD-CM and CPT-4 for accurate APC assignment • Address NCCI edits and reconcile charges as required • Abstract diagnoses, procedure codes, and pertinent information into electronic medical records • Seek missing information and create complete records • Provide quality assurance for medical records and regulatory compliance • Compile daily and monthly reports and tabulate medical-record data • Identify validation edits and revision issues • Recognize complex diagnoses and procedures and make coding corrections • Mentor less experienced staff and serve as a subject matter expert • Lead or participate in training, onboarding, and coding round-table discussions • Work independently and prioritize assignments • Interpret coding guidelines and LCDs before escalating complex matters

🎯 Anforderungen

• 5+ years of Cardiology Complex Coding experience, ideally Surgical Cardiology • 3 years or more of recent/consistent coding work history • Specialty Cardiology coding experience preferred • Active CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT certification through AAPC or AHIMA; more than CPC-A level required • Five or more years of specialized, complex professional coding experience for clinical specialty areas • Elevated knowledge and understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles • Ability to work autonomously with accountability and quality performance • Excellent critical thinking and organization skills • Attention to detail • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote setting using common office programs, coding software, and abstracting systems • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and specialized formal training equivalent to a two-year certification course, or an Associate’s degree in a related health care field
