Beschreibung

• Obtain preauthorizations and referrals for hospital-based and physician-based services • Submit required documentation and follow up on authorization requests to ensure timely approvals • Process authorization requests, notifications, appointment add-ons, schedule/date changes, and impactful service changes according to departmental policy and payer requirements • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, demographics, benefits, financial responsibility, and predetermination requirements • Review clinical documentation for information required by payers • Maintain detailed records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, correspondence, patient information, and insurance details • Communicate authorization status and address questions with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and internal departments • Collaborate with healthcare providers, physicians, clinical staff, Central Business Office, Financial Services, Transport, Patient Cost Estimation, Managed Care, Utilization Review, Authorization Departments, and other relevant departments • Resolve authorization barriers, denials, and appeals and identify alternative solutions • Attend daily departmental huddles and report payer issues, workflow barriers, and risks of non-reimbursable or canceled services • Build and maintain professional relationships with specialty department contacts and provide empathetic customer service • Adhere to laws, regulations, privacy guidelines, and organizational policies when handling patient and insurance information

🎯 Anforderungen

• One year of specialized training beyond high school • Minimum of 6 months Insurance Authorization experience required • Ability to utilize work queues and other mechanisms to initiate authorizations and referrals • Ability to verify insurance eligibility, authorization requirements, plan benefit levels, and patient financial responsibility • Knowledge of insurance policies, guidelines, procedures, authorization, and reimbursement processes • Ability to review clinical documentation and submit required information to payers • Ability to maintain accurate authorization and insurance records • Ability to identify and address authorization barriers, denials, appeals, and alternative solutions • Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment • Ability to comply with relevant laws, regulations, privacy guidelines, and organizational policies
