Beschreibung

• Own the design of mission-critical systems including wallets and ledgers, enrollment lifecycles, reimbursement reviews, and money/student-record flows • Identify and resolve cross-cutting problems without clear ownership • Set engineering standards and lead design and code reviews • Own data modeling and system design; guide the team toward robust data models • Define SLIs and SLOs, build monitoring, lead incident response, run blameless postmortems, and implement resulting fixes • Build autonomous systems for checks, reviews, reports, rollouts, data fixes, and documentation • Protect student PII and company funds in partnership with Security and Legal, including FERPA, state audits, and traceability • Mentor engineers and develop their judgment • Represent Engineering with Product and leadership, translate strategy into a roadmap, and challenge incorrect plans • Work across the full stack in a Next.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL monolith • Work directly with the CTO on long-term engineering strategy

🎯 Anforderungen

• 8+ years building software, including experience at small or fast-growing companies where you owned outcomes • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node, and PostgreSQL • Strong PostgreSQL skills including schema design, transactions, locking, and query performance • Experience designing and shipping complex production systems spanning team boundaries, including payments, ledgers, workflows, and integrations • First-principles reasoning and ability to explain system behavior • Experience setting technical direction and mentoring engineers • Experience handling sensitive data and real money • Clear technical writing and communication for non-technical audiences • Interest in leveraging AI while retaining ownership and accountability • Must live in one of the listed eligible U.S. states • Authorized to work in the United States • Preferred: event-driven, asynchronous, workflow-heavy systems experience with Kafka, Temporal, or Inngest • Preferred: AI experience automating developer workflows • Preferred: K-12 education or regulated/compliance-focused industry experience
