Beschreibung

• Design and implement optimisation algorithms, including mathematical programming, decomposition approaches, and metaheuristics • Structure optimisation problems by defining decision variables, constraints, objectives, feasibility/optimality trade-offs, and operational acceptance criteria • Model static and dynamic real-time optimisation and sequential decision-making problems • Prototype and validate approaches, then develop robust, maintainable production components • Deliver production-ready optimisation pipelines and services • Build and maintain data ingestion and cleaning pipelines • Integrate optimisation services into APIs, UI hooks, scheduling, and execution layers • Implement logging, monitoring, metrics, error handling, retries, fallbacks, and automated regression tests • Contribute to cloud deployment practices and CI/CD pipelines • Engage with clients to gather specifications and understand their domains • Define, communicate, and measure operational value such as service levels, cost, throughput, resilience, and sustainability • Provide code reviews and contribute to engineering standards • Mentor and train team members on optimisation and delivery best practices • Work as a senior technical lead in cross-functional product and delivery squads with software engineers, product specialists, and domain experts

🎯 Anforderungen

• Relevant PhD or Master’s degree plus experience on applied optimisation problems, including experience in industry • Deep expertise in at least one of Mixed Integer linear programming, Metaheuristics, Stochastic programming, or Reinforcement learning • Strong ability to structure and implement optimisation solutions in real-world settings • Experience working in agile teams and cross-functional delivery environments • Technical leadership and/or team leadership experience • Excellent written and verbal communication in English • Reliability, accountability, collaborative mindset, and ability to give constructive feedback while supporting team wellbeing • Deep programming expertise in at least one of Python, Java, and/or Rust • Familiarity with cloud platforms, Git workflows, CI/CD, containerisation, experiment tracking, model/data versioning, and workflow orchestration patterns • Detail-oriented systems thinking while maintaining the big picture • Curious, proactive, pragmatic, and data-driven approach • Collaborative, resilient, and adaptable to changing priorities • Commitment to advances in optimisation, software development, and AI/ML • Focus on delivering real operational value
