Beschreibung

• Own the back-end systems and architecture powering TED’s media, identity, and associated systems • Build and maintain large-scale Ruby on Rails systems backed by MySQL • Ensure reliable delivery of services to millions of people • Ensure successful delivery of TED’s digital platform through coding standards, test-driven development, CI/CD, observability, alerting, and documentation • Deliver a back-end technology platform meeting demanding 24/7/365 SLAs • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders on delivery expectations • Participate in program management practices, scrum-style meetings, standups, department meetings, and ticketing/tracking processes • Promote pairing and conduct code reviews • Foster the growth of other back-end engineers through collaborative code reviews • Analyze user requirements and design solutions for new features • Design tools and libraries for back-end engineers and company-wide use • Manage and monitor back-end testing, performance, and code quality • Influence and guide the back-end direction of conference products • Experiment with new technologies and share discoveries with the team • Use AI-enabled workflows to accelerate team work • Contribute as needed to ensure overall effectiveness • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

🎯 Anforderungen

• 10+ years of Ruby on Rails experience, including gem development or Rails engines • 10+ years of MySQL experience • 12+ years of overall professional software development experience • Experience with DevOps technologies, including containerization solutions; Docker/AWS preferred • GraphQL API authoring and delivery strongly preferred • Demonstrated success designing complex ecosystems of web services • Experience using AI technology to accelerate coding productivity without sacrificing quality • Experience with scalability, uptime, and quality of service • Experience with data security and privacy • Experience with additional relational and document-based database technologies • Strong focus on code quality, documentation, test-driven development, performance, scalability, monitoring, and readability • Ability to debug and test problems through complex, interconnected web services • Curiosity and knowledge of new web technologies and frameworks • Ability to refactor legacy projects and perform greenfield development • Ability to drive projects from inception through completion while balancing quality and speed • Values cross-functional collaboration and a diverse workplace • Familiarity with Git, version control, and Unix/Linux command-line best practices • Some experience with JavaScript back-end technology; Express/Node a plus • Some experience with JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and related Web APIs a plus • Ability to use common office equipment and software including MS Office, Mac programs, Google Docs, and functional databases • Cover letter, resume, and writing sample or portfolio required
