Beschreibung

• Set and guide strategy for all communications, including digital and public relations messages and collateral • Ensure BLMP is viewed as a primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within its diverse network and constituent base • Lead the communications team in collaboration with staff on strategic initiatives • Supervise Communications Team members and lead department meetings • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive communications plans for diverse audiences with staff, consultants, members, and partner organizations • Lead content strategy to engage audience segments • Build and implement narrative strategy supporting Black liberation, Black migrant justice, and abolition of the carceral state • Mentor and lead the team through website administration and coordinate regular posting of article links, stories, and events • Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of print and electronic collateral, including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and the website • Strengthen BLMP’s brand and visual identity • Create and manage media contact lists • Oversee the departmental budget • Develop rapid response and crisis communication protocols • Represent BLMP in communications-focused movement spaces and coalitions • Infuse BLMP’s narrative strategy into broader movement-wide narrative strategy

🎯 Anforderungen

• At least 10 years of communications experience, ideally in an “in-house” leadership role within a nonprofit structure • Experience with website content, newsletters, and donor communications • Proven ability to transform knowledge into exciting and useful messages and disseminate them to the right audiences through appropriate distribution channels • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to build and incorporate organizational voice across platforms • Ability to organize and clearly share information • Ability to stay up to date with changing tools and best practices • Highly collaborative, mission-aligned relationship builder who welcomes and integrates feedback • Self-starter comfortable with a participatory leadership style • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadline-driven initiatives concurrently • Available to work nights and weekends during moments of urgent response • Passion for Black liberation, Black migrant justice, and abolition of the carceral state • Commitment to centering and building the leadership of Black migrants and 1st generation Black people who identify as TGNCI, women, femmes, and/or who are living with disabilities • Bilingual preferred
