Description

• Own the technical architecture and direction of Aveni’s core platform services • Design and build scalable, event-driven services on AWS • Evolve client-data ingestion capabilities to support configuration-based onboarding • Build and maintain APIs for consistent consumption of client and CRM data • Design robust multi-tenant systems with strong data isolation, security and operational controls • Lead data lifecycle management, including retention, deletion, residency and GDPR requirements • Build resilient third-party platform and API integrations with authentication, rate limiting, retries, reconciliation and failure recovery • Make and document architectural decisions and represent Core Services in Architecture Review Board discussions • Raise engineering standards across testing, observability, security, reliability and operational ownership • Remain hands-on with production code, primarily Node.js and AWS • Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, design discussions and technical coaching • Help the team use AI-assisted engineering tools with appropriate controls • Provide technical direction to a team of around six to seven engineers

🎯 Exigences

• Significant software engineering experience with a strong track record of technical leadership and architectural decision-making • Deep production experience with Node.js, particularly across backend, API and distributed systems • Strong experience designing and operating cloud-native systems on AWS • Experience building event-driven architectures and understanding asynchronous distributed systems • Experience designing production systems with complex multi-tenancy, data isolation or data lifecycle requirements • Strong experience integrating with third-party APIs, including rate limits, partial failures, retries and reconciliation • Strong understanding of reliability, observability, security and operational ownership • Experience making architectural trade-offs and communicating technical decisions clearly • Track record of mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards • Ability and desire to remain hands-on while providing technical direction • Production experience with Python alongside Node.js (desirable) • Experience with Auth0, AWS Cognito or similar identity and access management technologies (desirable) • Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0 and authentication/authorisation patterns (desirable) • Experience in financial services or another regulated environment (desirable) • Experience handling data residency, retention and GDPR erasure requirements at scale (desirable) • Experience contributing to Architecture Review Boards or similar governance forums (desirable) • Experience establishing or improving AI-assisted software engineering practices (desirable)
