Description

• Works in a variety of areas, with a primary focus on handling labor and employment matters, such as personnel policy development, collective bargaining agreement compliance, labor grievance and arbitration processes, collective bargaining, employee relations matters, wage and hour counseling, reasonable accommodations, civil rights cases, internal investigations, and EEOC/DCR/PERC/DOL and other state and federal agency matters. • Provides advice and counsel to NDWA staff on a wide variety of legal issues that affect 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) tax exempt organizations, including corporate governance. • Reviewing, developing and negotiating vendor contracts, MOUs, grant agreements and other agreements. • Assist with reviewing messaging and outward facing materials to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal law. • Assist with organizational risk management and crisis response planning. • Drafting policies, procedures, and guidelines on administrative operations. • Serve as liaison with Human Resources department and outside counsels. • Analyze and evaluate pending legislation and regulations to determine if they apply to NDWA and, if so, their impact on NDWA. • Assist with other duties as assigned by General Counsel. • Participate in staff meetings, staff study, and staff retreats. Attend supervision meetings and complete work plans and reports in a timely manner.

🎯 Exigences

• J.D. from an accredited law school with 5+ years experience in labor and employment law, preferably with in-house experience. • Familiarity with laws governing 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) tax exempt organizations. • Bar membership in good standing in the counsels jurisdiction of residence. • Strong judgment and communications skills. • Ability to take initiative, assess priorities, handle multiple assignments, project manage, and meet deadlines. • Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, meet multiple deadlines with a keen attention to detail. • Strong organizational skills, and creative problem solver. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred (include other platforms or technical skills as applicable). • Spanish proficiency is a plus.
