📋 Description

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team • Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems • Support team members throughout delivery • Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during ideation and product development • Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs • Identify, advocate for, and lead resolution of project, process, technology or business issues • Create and monitor metrics for team artifacts • Escalate issues and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts • Set or improve code review and design standards • Advocate for quality and ownership through writing and tech talks • Develop team talent through feedback and guidance • Build backend orchestration layers driving Web and Mobile surfaces • Own and deliver high-availability, low-latency systems

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale • Experience using languages like Python or Kotlin • Track record developing highly available distributed systems • Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes • Experience working close to web and mobile layers • Understanding of frontend design patterns such as fraud prevention and backend-for-frontend • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components • Elegant, simple and extensible design skills • Ability to write high-quality, understandable code • Proficiency making significant changes in a large code base safely • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan
